How ironic that when I finally finish this picture it happens to be raining and lightninginng and thundering like no other outside!
What the eff, it's June!
But I'm not complaining. I love me some lightning.

So. This is for :iconcelsa:'s contest. The theme is Rain, so I found it fitting to draw my character Rain. Haha, her name is actually symbolic for a few reasons; I didn't just choose the name Rain because it's pretty.
One of these reasons is because Rain is a sad person. She is pretty melancholy like Rain can be-- but also sort of chaotic and unpredictable. She's an unstable mess, and all over the place. But also she can be very romantic and hopeful, which is another thing I think of with rain, as well. Soo, I thought it symbolized her well. And, okay, well Rain is a pretty name, too. And there are other reasons but let's not bore you with that.

Anyway, I figured this was a perfect opportunity to draw her since she fits the theme so well. And I've always wanted to draw a dark rainy scene.

This picture was really challenging in a lot of ways. The background was difficult. This result was the only thing I tried that I didn't hate, but I don't absolutely love it. Also if you're wondering how she's sort of glowing in light when there is almost no visible light, I'd like to think its the moon, or stars, but maybe *cheesy* she's just illuminated by... uhh hope? I don't know. But I like how she looks glowy like that, so please don't critique that. Haha, please do however critique anything else.

You know, I actually started it in April, or maybe late March haha, so I did most of it then-- I promise I'm not just a freak who starts and finishes a picture a day. I just took off some time to think and then finally finished this in the last two nights before the contest ended is all.
Anyway, I'm talking WAAAAYYY to much, so I'll just end saying that I'm fairly pleased with it, and I hope you like it, too!
And wish me luck in the competition! :D

I saw this in my message box and I was like, yay! she finished it! :D

And then I opened it up and WOW! O_O I'm very impressed.
I personally think the background is fine. And Rain looks amazing. And all the emotion being conveyed... geez, I wish I could do something this emotional. D:
